The project is situated in the St. Andreas area of Nicosia, a quiet residential suburb. The brief called for a three storey apartment block that would offer the flexibility to accept future reconfigurations, with the 2-bed units being able to join in pairs to form 4- bed family apartments. The project proposed the idea of a simple reinforced concrete orthogonal-parallelogram structural frame that is both economical to erect and would allowed for configuration flexibility. The first two floors were set up in the 2-bed unit layout, whereas the top floor was configured as a 200m2 family apartment, with open plan living spaces, and four bedrooms. All apartments are equipped with large verandahs that offer generous views to the residential neighborhood that lies beyond, and are equipped with green energy efficiency systems.
The relationship of interior spaces to the outdoor -all living spaces are connected to generous verandas- builds up a programmatic animation of the façade, with the use of large sliding glass openings fully blurring the building’s spatial boundaries.
